Hello and welcome to the first post of my weblog.
I am starting Barrister or Bankrupt (or BoB) as an online diary of the law-related side of my life. Working at the Law Courts and studying law in the evenings and weekends means quite a rich set of experiences which I hope to share with you (update: I no longer work in the Law Courts but I would like to think that the experiences are still rich!). As far as target audiences are concerned I hope BoB will be read by friends, family and members of pupillage committees. If you fit into any of those categories - and even if you don't - I would be very interested to hear your thoughts; just click on "comments" below!
Why the name? There are a few inspirations behind it:
- Many sources of legal advice tell you that training to be a barrister can be a bit of a financial gamble.
- You cannot become a barrister if you are a bankrupt.
- My current job at the Personal Support Unit involves working with bankruptcy (update: see above update)
Thank you for reading.
